An access log features a record of all the files that have been requested by the visitors while browsing your site. The list is thorough, so if you have a web page with two embedded images, for instance, all of the three files shall be in the log, not just the page. An access log normally contains the date, the OS, the Internet browser and the IP address for every single file in human-readable form, so you can get a more complete picture about the hottest files on your website. The log, that's also commonly named "raw data", is an addition to the web statistics that you normally get with a hosting account, not a replacement. An example why you might need this type of a log is if you want to use some software on your personal computer to prepare a report about the website’s efficiency, but you do not want to use the conventional graphs and tables which come with the server-generated site stats.
Access Log Manager in Hosting
If you get a hosting from us, you shall be able to decide if access logs must be created and for which domains or subdomains inside your account this should be done. You could enable this function from the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, incorporated with all shared accounts. Each domain you host or subdomain you create shall be listed there and you'll see an On/Off option next to each and every one of them, so you can easily activate or deactivate the generation of access logs independently for each site that you have. You could save a log to your computer by clicking on the Download link that you will see within the same exact section of the Control Panel. The link shall be available even if you deactivate the log generation, so you shall still have access to the data collected by our system.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you host your Internet sites within a semi-dedicated server account with us, you will have the option to trigger or disable the generation of access logs with no more than a couple of clicks from your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. You shall find this feature within the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access after you sign in. All it takes for our system to start generating logs is a click on the On button you'll see there. The feature can be enabled independently for any website regardless of whether it uses a domain or a subdomain and you will find the full list of all the hosts inside that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with only a click and you could then look at it manually or use some software on your laptop or computer. The log generation could be disabled by simply switching the On option to Off in the Logs section of your Control Panel.
